How does this enhance student success?
How does this demonstrate fiscal stewardship?
How does this increase operating efficiency?
I am running for the Ojai Unified School District Board to use my experience in education to help my new home.
I may be a relative newcomer to the Ojai Valley, but I’m not new to education. Currently, I have the honor of serving as Vice Chancellor of Human Resources for the Ventura County Community College District. Previously, I headed the Los Angeles Community College District Human Resources Division.
I’ve been a union attorney, and overall have almost thirty years of experience in human resources in a variety of environments. From multinational corporations to community organizations, I know how to ask hard questions and collaborate for good answers.
The problems facing the District aren’t new either. Whether it’s declining enrollment, skyrocketing operating costs, or uncertain budgets, school districts have been facing these challenges for years. The successful district must approach every decision by asking: “How does this increase student success? Or demonstrate fiscal stewardship? Or improve operating efficiency?” I will tenaciously ask those questions.
Our students and our schools are the heartbeat of the Ojai Valley’s future and I want to do my part to support them. It would be a privilege to add my skills to the Ojai Unified School District Board.
After careful consideration, I will be filing my papers for candidacy tomorrow morning. Spent the weekend getting papers in shape. Hope all goes well.
